Cleveland private detective Jim Bennett appeared in over 20 stories in the pages of Dime Detective and other Popular Publications pulps of the late 1940s and early 50s. Noted as one of the few pulp P.I.s to actually be in a relationship, these stories are some of the most refined detective stories of the post-war era, as the influence of the noir movies of the era greatly influenced their plots and styling. Bailbondsman William “Bail-Bond” Dodd was the first series character that hard-boiled genius Norbert Davis created for Harry Steeger’s best detective pulp.
