Frank Hamilton Original Pulp Painting for The Shadow: “The Tower of Death”

Original pulp painting by Frank Hamilton (1918–2008) of “The Tower of Death.” Recreation painting of the May 1, 1934 issue of The Shadow Magazine. Dated May 1970 on the bottom left. Oil on board, framed to 18″ tall x 14″ wide.

Frank Hamilton is widely considered the greatest artist of the pulp fandom revival and fanzines from the 1970s-2000s. Though he mainly did black & white stippled interior illustrations, on rare occasions he did full color oil paintings.
