Carl Jacobi

Carl Richard Jacobi (1908–1997) was an American journalist and fiction writer, best known for short stories in horror, fantasy, crime, and adventure. He wrote for the pulp magazine market, with stories appearing in Weird Tales, Ghost Stories, Strange Stories, Startling Stories, and Thrilling Wonder Stories. His work also reached adventure and crime titles such as Short Stories, Top-Notch, Thrilling Adventures, and Doc Savage.

Jacobi’s range connected supernatural fiction with the fast-moving adventure and mystery stories that defined much of the pulp era. His stories were published across multiple magazines rather than around a single continuing hero, and later accounts of pulp fiction include him among the writers who sustained Weird Tales’ mix of uncanny and speculative storytelling.
