Earl Mayan

Earl Mayan (1916–2009) was an American illustrator whose work carried the tradition of narrative magazine illustration from the pulp era into the postwar decades. Early assignments included illustrations for adventure publications, and his work appeared in pulp titles such as Complete Adventure. He later contributed to mainstream magazines, including The Saturday Evening Post.
Mayan worked alongside a generation of illustrators whose magazine art had to tell a story quickly and clearly within a single image. His career continued as the market shifted away from pulp magazines toward general-interest periodicals and commercial commissions.
