Lew Merrill was a pen name associated with Victor Rousseau Emanuel (1879–1960), a British writer who worked in both Britain and the United States. Emanuel wrote novels, newspaper serials, science fiction, and pulp fiction, using several names during his career, including Victor Rousseau, H.M. Egbert, and V.R. Emanuel. Emanuel’s output crossed genres and formats during the first half of the twentieth century, when authors often used different bylines for separate markets. Under his better-known names, he published speculative and adventure fiction as well as serialized stories.
